It is a set of activities essential to everyday life that are conducted over one's life span.Such activities could include securing water, food, fodder, medicine, shelter, clothing etc.
An individual's livelihood involves the capacity to acquire aforementioned necessities in order to satisfy the basic needs of themselves and their household. The activities are usually carried out repeatedly and in a manner that is sustainable and providing of dignity.
In watershed development projects,livelihood activities are to improve productive potential of rainfed / degraded land and strengthen community based local institutions.
In watershed projects, it is the role of Watershed Development Team(WDT) to promote sustainable livelihoods at household level.
For WDC-PMKSY 2.0, DoLR, GoI allocate 15% of the total fund for Livelihood Activities.
