Inspired by the vision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on Jal Sanchay, the Jal Shakti Abhiyan (JSA) is a time-bound, mission-mode water conservation campaign.
Ministry of Jal Shakti is taking up a nation-wide campaign “Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain”(JSA:CTR) focusing on saving and conserving rainwater with the theme “Catch the rain, where it falls, when it falls” from 29 March 2022 to 30 November 2022 in the pre-monsoon and monsoon periods of 2022, covering both urban and rural areas of all the districts in the country.
National Water Mission, Ministry of Jal Shakti launched a campaign “Catch the Rain” with the tag line “Catch the rain, where it falls, when it falls” in 2020 & 2021 to nudge the states and all stakeholders to create Rain Water Harvesting Structures (RWHS) suitable to the climatic conditions and sub-soil strata, with people’s active participation.
During the campaign, officers, groundwater experts and scientists from the Government of India will work together with state and district officials in India’s most water-stressed districts* for water conservation and water resource management by focusing onaccelerated implementation of five target intervention.
The JSA aims at making water conservation a Jan Andolan through asset creation and extensive communication.
